Equipment Checklist

Before you begin, check that you have everything you need:

  • 1 tent canvas
  • 1 ground sheet (attached to canvas)
  • 1 centre pole with rubbers on each end
  • 1 A-frame with rain cap
  • 12 smaller pegs
  • 12 rebar pegs
  • tent bag
  • pole bag
  • peg bag
  • 2 straps

Setup Instructions

Step 1: Unpack the Tent

First, remove the tent from the bag, including the pegs and poles.

Step 2: Unfold the Tent

Next, remove the straps holding the tent in its roll. You can then unfold it in the build area.

Step 3: Position the Door

After unfolding, locate the door and ensure it is facing the right direction.

Step 4: Distribute the Pegs

Once the tent is in the right place, go around and drop 2 pegs (one big and one small) next to each of the eyelets on the groundsheet.

Step 5: Peg the Door and Rear

With the pegs distributed, you can attach the 2 pegs on either side of the door. Afterwards, find the rearmost eyelet on the back side of the tent, pull it tight, and peg it in.

Step 6: Proper Pegging Technique

Ensure that the pegs go through the elastic and the eyelet on the groundsheet, and then straight into the ground. Ideally, you only want the pegs an inch out of the ground. This leaves just enough so you can pull it out when you pack down.

Step 7: Complete the Groundsheet Pegging

Following that, you’ll want to peg in the eyelet on the right-hand side of the door, followed by its opposite on the right-hand side of the rear. Then the one on the left of the rear is next, followed again by its opposite number, the one on the left of the door.

Step 8: Prepare to Enter the Tent

Lay the centre pole and the A-frame out in front of the door. Then, pick up the centre pole with the D-ring in front of you. You should enter the tent either without shoes, wearing indoor shoes, or using shoe covers.

Step 9: Erect the Centre Pole

Locate the apex of the tent. Place the pole rubber centrally within the apex and push up to erect the tent with the centre pole. Finally, place the bottom on the square, which indicates the middle of the tent.

Step 10: Install the A-frame (Top)

When the centre pole is secure, bring the A-frame into the tent. You should then place the pin at its apex through the eyelet on top of the door in the tent.

Step 11: Secure the A-frame (Bottom)

Now, locate the pole holders on the groundsheet. Place the rubber-footed ends of the A-frame in each holder.

Step 12: Add the Rain Cap

Place the rain cap over the pin on the outside of the tent. With that, you’re done with the poles.

Step 13: Add Mats (Optional)

At this stage, the mats can be placed in the tent if you have one. If you haven’t bought one yet, check out our shop here! These add that extra comfort.

Step 14: Start with Front Guy Ropes

It’s now time for the guy ropes. You want to start with the front three first. This includes one on either side of the door and one from the apex of the door.

Step 15: Position Guy Rope Pegs Correctly

Each peg should be at least 1m from the tent. Also, the ropes should follow the seams of the tent, with the peg entering the ground straight.

Step 16: Complete All Guy Ropes

Once the front is secure, get the rearmost rope in. Then, follow the same pattern as before, securing the opposite rope and peg each time.

Step 17: Tension the Ropes

With all the pegs in, go around and tension all of the ropes. As a result, you should have a lovely, straight PrePitched Bell Tent.

Step 18: Close the Doors

Zip the doors closed. In addition, check that the flysheet zips are attached.

Step 19: Store the Bags

Finally, place the pole bag and peg bag, with any spare pegs, into the tent bag. Store it securely until the take-down.

Important Reminders

Remember, don’t leave your tent bag under the groundsheet of a set-up tent. It will get wet and dirty and may go mouldy!
